The Second Assault
Ok, so I don't have pictures of roads and riding. I did plan to bring the vidcam along but I chose to enjoy this second installment instead and just snapped pictures in my head. I can't mind the bike and camera at the same time, the ride itself was suicide enough. Maybe if I buy duct tape next time and slap the camera unto my helmet I'd be able to post a vid of the assault. Weather turned out perfect, and traffic was down to zero. Everything then was a blur.
See you next run guys.

The First Ever "Bullet Run"
Necessity is the mother of all invention - or something like that - I read from an old TinTin comic book from my younger years. But this light bulb that popped into my head one night a month back was no invention, but one of necessity. It was just nesting there quietly like a little seed until last night.
The Bullet Run is no big deal really, it is nothing more than a quick jaunt along the edges of the metro, from south to north and back again, stopping by some major spots along the way. The only catch there is that this is no ordinary boring ride, but a full throttle blast around and in between traffic. No waiting. No cruising. No formations. Just simple balls out angry riding. It is basically an assault against concrete.
I had no idea that my last ride with Jason and teacha John would become the very first realization of an idea that was floating around more than about a month ago. The feeling was one heck of an adrenaline rush, like little kids giggling over porn.
The road was there all along. It only takes new eyes to see what an open playground we really have. See you guys on the next jaunt.

Full Circle
Macapagal. Malate. Manila. Quezon City. Pasig. The Fort. Meal. Beer. Coffee. Soup.
Plus full throttle assault from beginning to end. Now that's how you end a day.

Treasure Find
Ed chanced upon these nuggets on ebay. Judging from the ultra cheap tag he got it for the owner probably didn't know how much of a gem these circa photos and postcards are. For a little over $10 you get a piece of unique history that would hang proudly on any sane enthusiast's wall. If you can't read the sign where those Indians are parked it says Lawton Police Station. Yep. Once upon a time, our police were riding rigid classics. Now they're reduced to colorum and dilapidated tin cans. Can't help but think that somewhere in the metro are these lost and stashed engines just rusting away in a forgotten basement.

John's Bitchin' Bronco
************************
This space is for a deserving shout out to Jason, for riding out to assist a rider in need, and to Dante of Lucky Monkey for taking time out to lend me that blessed trickle charger. It was a very colorful day for me yesterday and these guys went out of their way to become part of it. There really is no substitute for people you know you can rely on when the need comes.

Inspiration :: Natas Kaupas
I remember scoring my very first ever skateboard magazine Thrasher back in my junior year in college. As fate would have it, Natas Kaupas was on the spotlight. Captivated by his bizarre name and this very picture on the splash page, I practically idolized him during my skateboard years, which lasted for a good decade. He had this no-nonsense-whatever-comes attitude that was against the tide of what was happening back then, and everyone was like wondering who was that guy who just whizzed by and ollied that hydrant? He blew everybody's mind with so many things unheard of in his time, and outdid himself every time. I broke my board one time and hung my shoes out to dry after that, but skating has always been in my blood. I thought someday I'd get the chance to pay back to the kids who skate today and build them a safe place where they can happily carry on the torch. This guy wasn't into the hype and fame that floored so many a great skateboarder at that time, and just went out and had fun with everything he did, eventually earning himself a niche in history.
That was Natas. Artist. Skater. Pioneer.
