It's become a religious practice to check out the weather as often as I can and this current weather tantrum we're having, taken at 1AM today, blankets the entire archipelago from head to foot.
I had the firsthand pleasure of landing smack in the middle of Sucat road when it turned into a river at mid day yesterday. Water was up over the knee and people were wading just to get home. I had to constantly gas the van just to make sure it doesn't die on me. Close to 4 hours just from Evacom to SM Sucat. Ain't that a doozy?
I didn't get pissed even for a moment. It was quite a rare occasion to watch how people can gleefully respond to such a predicament with genuine smiles while treading the flooded road, holding on to their skirts, and their pants rolled up to their knees. The strength of the Filipino is in their resiliency and camaraderie shows itself in dire situations.
