Snapshots :: Jan 06 10

I don't know if you've had that episode wherein you meet somebody and after a few wild rides you feel you've known them for a very long time. It's awesome what comes out of being on the same zen, the simplicity and depth of it, just blows me away.

Borrowed Jason's special occasion camera for this. Thanks man.

Frisco'd :: Ending

I couldn't help but think everything I needed to setup my midcontrols was right under my nose. Salvageable from the very part I wanted to replace. I should have started on it months ago.

The shaft that ran from the foot brake down to the first pivot was 2 inches over. Cut. Weld. Bend to the right angle. Pushes and functions like before. Nice. I was supposed to go to the boys for some help with the acetylene but after redoing the studies, it was more efficient to have the foot lever closer to the peg: less down travel, quicker response.

Cutting the bent portion off saved me time and unnecessary expenses. I still managed to preserve the bend upward by cutting into the bent portion and re-welding it to the main instead. I decided to leave the tig weld as it is and not grind it out, makes it look more hand-made. Doing everything in-house permits you to make sudden changes and last minute refinements.

A 3-inch tube with a socket wrench bit shoved into it finished the lever. Still found use for my old generic rubber grips, slid it on and used it for cover. Fits well too.

It functions perfectly. To chrome or not to chrome? Looks ratty in its raw form. I'd probably just clear coat it after grinding the scales off. All that's left is to road test it. Wet roads, alas..

Frisco'd

Phase 1 of the quick afternoon streak. More tomorrow.

Don't have my own acetylene setup yet so I'd knock on the boys to straighten this sucker out for me. The old meat tenderizer foot peg has to go. Would probably replace it with a size 18 socket wrench? Brutus couldn't wait.

House Guest

Drake will be spending hard time in the garage pending a serious case of airbox malfunction, plus some nasal modifications on the side. Fun times ahead.
Who knows what evil sick bikes speak of when left alone?

The Past Week

The pegs were in dire need of cleaning. I didn't mind them being soaked and all through all that daily blasts, and since I had the entire afternoon to burn after a whole week of mind draining projects I completed all the pending major repairs as well.

I simply love the new skinnyZees. Plus I didn't know white could look this darn good. But that's just me.

The Beginning Of A New Breed

Home made mini Zee's and soon to be high mid pegs for Brutus' Frisco haircut. He's never looked so evil before. The photos don't do justice. R@t$k! I'll make you a better one. I just had to try this. The stretch feels very comfortable, and you feel like you're already taunting the speed limit.
I still had to slap on the old throttle, hydraulic rig and the spaghetti cable, which is now a foot too long from that old curtain hanger I called apes. Switching to quick throttles instead. It's also about time I quit yakkin' and started doin' them Gaboon sissies.

Don't Want No Short Piped Man

Burned my lip cranking out these new extensions to my previous set the whole day yesterday. I'm still toying around with the end caps for these babies but for now they sound handsome and bragging. When you see a lone headlight coming down the street sounding somewhat a cross between a large djembe and torn trumpets, that would be Brutus.

The other day, the guard at work told me some old guy was furious at Brutus. It seems he came too near my suicide handle for comfort and tore his expensive pants open with a 5 inch gap. After shouting defamatory remarks at my silent and defenseless bike he threatens to complain to the admin. Er.. bikes don't move on their own when parked you moron.

I'm happy to discover my bike literally bites f@ggot$.
